Renting a holiday villa in Mallorca is a perfect way to experience island life. You can explore at your own pace, surrounded by the comforts of a real Mallorcan home. With so many styles of villa to choose from across the island, it can be hard to decide on the perfect location.
To help, we’ve created a quick guide to some of the most wonderful places to rent a holiday villa in Mallorca.
Puerto Pollensa
Puerto Pollensa sits on Mallorca’s north coast, boasting beautiful beaches, the famous Pine Walk, and stunning views of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range and Formentor.
The main white-sand beach, known as Playa del Port de Pollença, is one of the area’s most popular attractions. Visitors can soak up the sun surrounded by dramatic mountains and deep blue waters. You can relax on a rented sunbed, head over to a beach bar for refreshments, or try out a range of water sports with local instructors.
For those who fancy a stroll, the nearby Pine Walk Promenade hugs Puerto Pollensa’s sweeping coastline. The tree-lined cobbled path offers views across the bay. Visitors will pass local bars and restaurants along the way, meaning there are plenty of stopping points to take in the scenery.
Pollensa Town
Only a 15-minute drive from Puerto Pollensa, Pollensa town and its surrounding area makes an ideal base for anyone looking to enjoy both culture and coastline with a villa in Mallorca.
Charming streets wind through the little town, leading to cobbled squares with alfresco dining. The town’s museum offers an insight into its history, once a 16th-century convent and now a little art gallery.
But the town’s real magic lies in the 365 Calvari Steps, leading to stunning views in front of the small hillside church. At the top, visitors are treated to a panoramic vista, stretching to the sea.
Alcúdia
Alcúdia is popular with tourists but retains its North-Mallorcan charm, making it a wonderful destination for holidays in Mallorca.
You can relax on the sun-drenched shores of Alcúdia’s main beach which stretches for miles towards Can Picafort, or take a dip in its turquoise waters. Feeling adventurous? The family-friendly Hidropark waterpark is open between May and October, covering approximately 40,000m2.
Alcúdia is brimming with things to do, but it also makes a fantastic base for those who wish to explore farther afield. The area isn’t far from little cove beaches, like the Playa de Sant Joan or the little island of S’Illot.
Nature lovers will enjoy a trip to S’Albufera Natural Park, a large wetland that sits about 5km south of Alcúdia’s port. Or, for a touch of history, why not visit the nearby remains of the old Roman town Pollentia, dating back to 1AD?
We have a range of exclusive properties in Alcudia, just waiting to be snapped up for the perfect family escape. You can see our full range of holiday villas in the Alcudia area here.
Palma
No list of the best places to rent a holiday villa in Mallorca would be complete without mentioning this stunning capital city. In fact, it was voted the best place to live in the world by The Times. With nearby beaches, a beautiful old town, and close proximity to the airport, it’s easy to see why.
Palma’s architecture is a beautiful melting pot, with mediaeval stone buildings, Modernist architecture, and influences from Gaudi. There are endless opportunities to explore hidden gems and well-known treasures dotted around its streets.
For example, the elegant, tree-lined Paseo del Bourne (sometimes referred to as The Golden Mile) is the perfect place for luxury shopping. Located in El Casco Antiguo, Palma’s old town, the surrounding streets are home to gothic churches and scenic squares.
Those looking for a quiet villa in Mallorca can make the most of the gorgeous little neighbourhoods surrounding Palma, while visitors who prefer a townhouse or luxury penthouse might choose to stay in the city centre. We offer an exciting range of villas in Palma and nearby areas.
While there, be sure to take a trip to the unique, circular-shaped 14th-century Bellver Castle. The castle is named after its beautiful views and is complete with round towers and a multi-level courtyard. Bellver has a rich history, once the residence of kings, then a prison, and finally a museum in 1932.
Santanyí
Santanyí is the name of a cute, cobbled town and also the municipality it lies in. The town of Santanyí is known for its honey-coloured properties made from locally-sourced sandstone. Inside, the properties sometimes blend beautifully modern and traditional elements.
The town is home to a twice-weekly market, attracting locals and tourists from the surrounding areas. Vendors flog local and international wares. History-lovers can also visit the town’s medieval walls, built to protect against pirate attacks in the 14th century.
A little outside the town lies Cala d’Or, known for its several beautiful cove beaches and cubic-shaped white villas. The flat-roofed properties were designed to reflect Ibizan life, by Artist and Architect Josep Costa Ferrer.
The area is also close to the wonderful Parc Natural de Mondragó, which blends nature walks with breath-taking scenery and several stunning beaches. The park is accessible by car or bus.
