Inca is both the municipal area and the major town, with a population of around 25,000 people. With its excellent transport links, lively markets and famous leather industry,
Inca is an excellent place to rent holiday accommodation when you come to Mallorca.
This area is Mallorca’s agricultural centre. Fertile soils encourage the abundant growth of crops such as almonds, various vegetables (including delicious Mallorcan new potatoes), as well as orange and olive groves.
Historically, shoemaking was a flourishing industry of Inca, and remains so today with the headquarters of the fashion leather shoe brand Camper taking pride of place. (There is a large factory outlet on the edge of town, an excellent place to pick up a bargain.)
Good value leather coats, jackets, handbags and gloves are also worth checking out when in town.
The town centre of Inca has been revamped in recent years and much of it pedestrianised. This means that you can stroll along the ancient streets, particularly on Inca’s vibrant market day (weekly every Thursday) which attracts visitors from all over Mallorca looking for a bargain or to pick up some of the area’s delicious food produce.
In fact, outside of the capital Palma, Inca is probably the best place in the whole of Mallorca in which to shop.
The centrepiece of Inca old town is undoubtedly the church of Santa Maria la Major. Dating back to the eighteenth century, the baroque touches and the church’s imposing belfry are a joy to behold.
One of the prettiest sites on the outskirts of Inca is the Puig de Santa Magdalena. This delightfully small mountain is not to be missed, resplendent with its twin peaks, and if you’re feeling fit it’s a wonderful experience to climb up and enjoy the views over the central Mallorcan plain.
As you can imagine with all the local produce available, Inca is teeming with cafés and restaurants offering mouthwatering food at good value prices.
Inca’s central location and excellent transport links make it a popular place to rent holiday accommodation in Mallorca. Your stay here is made easy by being connected by major road which runs from the outskirts of town direct to Palma International airport in the south, and Alcudia and the coast to the north.
Buses are regular and frequent, and you can also catch the train into Mallorca’s capital city, as well as Manacor, famous for its Mallorcan pearls.
So whether you’re looking to rent a fabulous holiday villa for family and friends, a gorgeous traditional townhouse, or simply a cosy apartment for a romantic getaway, we at Balearic Villas would be happy to help you find your dream rental property in the Inca area.
